We are delighted to share that Dr hab. Vignesh Kumaravel, Acting Director of ICRI-BioM, delivered a talk at the Nature Conference hosted by Tianjin University and organized by Nature Catalysis, Nature Sustainability, Nature Energy, and Nature Chemical Engineering.
The presentation, entitled “Reimagining Carbon: Engineered Microbes Powering the Future of Biopolymers from CO₂-Derived Acetate,” highlighted cutting-edge approaches to integrating electrocatalysis and biocatalysis for sustainable biopolymer production. The research explores how genetically engineered microbes can convert acetate derived from captured CO₂ into valuable, eco-friendly materials, contributing to a more sustainable and circular bioeconomy.
This pioneering work is supported by NCN Poland under the ERA-NET grant and reflects the collective efforts of the dedicated ICRI-BioM research team.
Participation in the Nature Conference provided an excellent platform for engaging with global experts, exchanging ideas, and advancing dialogue on sustainable technologies for the future.
