It is with great sadness that we said goodbye yesterday to Mrs. Kazimiera Zacharska, who lost the fight against cancer. Kazia was associated with the project of the International Research Agenda from the very beginning and was the administrative driving force behind the prepared proposals. We will thankfully keep her in our memories.

On November 23rd, 2021 Prof. Dr. Alexander Steinbüchel visited Kraków. He was invited to give a lecture on the occasion of The open Innovation Forum 2021 – Klaster LifeScience. The topis of his lecture was: Perspectives for extended recycling of (bio)polymers in a circular economy.

ICRI-BioM is seeking a young researcher to fill up a full-time research position in the laboratory of Dr. Christopher M. Plummer ICRI-BioM is an International Research Agenda, established within Lodz University of Technology under the Foundation for Polish Science MAB PLUS Program in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz. It aims at the creation of an excellent scientific unit that focuses on combining polymer chemistry with molecular biosystems engineering experimentally and with the aid of computational sciences. It is expected that the collaboration and synergy between these groups, local scientific environment, and international cooperation will lead to breakthrough research in basic and applied sciences. This position will involve a research project at the intersection of organic chemistry and polymer chemistry. Topics including monomer synthesis and polymerization, as well as topics relating to post‑polymerization modification. Qualifications Candidates should have completed their PhD degree not longer than 5 years prior. Ultimately, it will be composed of two groups, led by Senior Principal Investigators (one of them being the director, Professor Alexander Steinbüchel) of the highest scientific standings, and three Junior PI groups. It is expected that the collaboration and synergy between these groups, local scientific environment and international cooperation will lead to breakthrough research in basic and applied sciences.  Qualifications Candidates have completed their PhD degree not longer than 5 years prior. Expected skills include: Experience in synthesis and degradation of biopolymers and synthetic polymers, Mass and high cell density cultivation of microorganisms, Practical experience in molecular biology methods and/or enzyme purification and characterization, Good knowledge and/or interest in computational sciences, Capability and interest to present results in international publications, national and international conferences, patents, etc., Good command of both spoken and written English.
